Snow Day

So a few days ago we finally got some snow!

It was more than they forecasted, but still nothing compared to what we have been getting the past five years.

The kids took full advantage and played outside for almost two hours.

While the bigs were outside I decided to make a special snack for them!  And thus my version of hot cocoa brownies were born!

Hot Cocoa Brownies

Ingredients

1 2/3 cup flour

5 oz bittersweet chocolate

3 sticks of butter

1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup hot cocoa mix!

1 bag mini marshmallows

1 1/2 cup sugar

4 eggs

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp vanilla

Preheat oven to 350

Start by putting your chocolate chips and chocolate bars into a heat resistant bowl. Slice up the butter and put it in with the chocolate.

Put a sauce pan on the stove top over medium heat. Put the glass bowl on top and slowly melt the chocolate and butter

Once that is nearly done cream the sugar and two other sticks of butter

Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well

Then add the cocoa mix, sugar, flour, salt, and melted chocolate.

Mix until it’s all smooth!

Pour into a greased 9×13 baking dish

Bake for 40 minutes

While it’s still warm take your marshmallows and lightly press them into the top of the brownies so they stay

Turn on the broiler and put the brownies in for about ten seconds. Make sure you stay and watch to be sure it doesn’t burn!

Hot cocoa brownies!  So rich and so yummy!  Perfect for our snowy afternoon.
